Ally Carter

I just read a group of AMAZING books by Ally Carter!! It is a spy series :) The first book is called "I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have To Kill You" the second book is "Cross My Heart And Hope To Spy" the third book is "Don't Judge A Girl By Her Cover" and the last one is called "Only The Good Spy Young"!!!! THESE BOOKS ROCK!!! I typically don't go for all spy books, but these book have the perfect amount of spy, action, mystery, friendship, and a bit of a love twist!! I STRONGLY suggest these books!!
They are about a girl named Cammie Morgan, who attends an all girls school... for spies :) It is about a few of her years at the school, and how her life goes from simple (if anything spy related can be called simple) to dramatic to absolutely terrifying!!

Ally Carter's new series has one book out so far! The first book is called "Heist Society"!! Another awesome book!!
It is about a girl, Kat, who has spent her life as a thief, but she decides to leave that life and become a "normal" girl. She realizes that, after "braking a rule", she isn't going to be able to stay there. Especially when her old friend Hale (W.W. Hale) suddenly shows up the day she is kicked out of her school. She has to go back to her old ways of stealing in order to hopefully clear her father's name in a large art theft.

ALL THESE BOOKS WILL HAVE YOU HOOKED :D

The Naming by Alison Croggon

This is the first book in a series. It is REALLY good.

In a time when Bards have been going through a hard time, a girl named Maerad has grown up as a slave, since she was a child. She has worked to survive the cruel Gilman's Cot, forget the painful memories of her past, and dream about becoming free. When she finally comes to the conclusion that freedom from the Cot is impossible, she meets Cadvan while milking a cow one day. He whisks her away from Gilman's and they travel the wild, fleeing the Dark, preserving the Light. Then Cadvan realizes who Maerad truly is...and her destiny...

This book is the First Book of Pellinor.

The second book is The Riddle
These books are AMAZING! I really really suggest them... they not only are a great story, but are really well written!!

General Comments for My Blog

Here is a PLACE to put general comments and suggestions for my blog:

The Hunger Games; Catching Fire; Mockingjay

These three books by Suzanne Collins follow Katniss Everdeen as she competes in the daring Hunger Games, kindles a rebellion, and becomes a Mockingjay! Throughout her journey she is helped by her childhood friend Gale, her tribute in arms Peeta, her mentor Haymitch, her make-up team, and of course gentle Cinna.

THESE BOOKS ARE AMAZING!!!! I really suggest reading them...

The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

This is the second book to the Maze Runner. In this sequel, Thomas awakes to Teresa calling his name, but he is sure it is all a dream. The feeling of safety in the dorm room is completely gone, and Thomas has only one goal... find Teresa...
A man in a white coat, a rat like face, unreachable behind an invisible barrier. Food. Everywhere, Gladers are stuffing their mouths with rich food. The man has a message, but won't speak until "it's time".
The Scorch..... the waste ridden plain, where The Flare is at its peak.
Thomas has two weeks to make it to a safe haven, but things take a twist.

Willowood by Cecilia Galante

Lilly and 11-yr old girl moves from her best friend Bailey, their secret spot Willowood, and her old town because of her mom's job. Having a hard time fitting in at her new school is bad enough, but now when she calls Bailey never seems to be around, and when she is... something deep down has changed. She ends up making a friend at the pet shop she gets a job at. Her "boss" Bernard's son, Nate, and Lilly form a shaky friendship and team up to help save 3 little iguana eggs. When Lilly needs a place to hide the eggs she remembers her "new Willowood". Hidden in an old apartment, Lilly stores the eggs there until the eggs and Nate one day mysteriously disappear. The only one able to save the eggs and find Nate is Lilly, but she will have to override differences between herself and the girl who has been making her life miserable in order to find Nate and the eggs in time.

This is SUCH an AMAZING book to read!

The Maze Runner by James Dashner

THIS IS A MUST READ BOOK! I couldn't put it down!!!!! It was a summer reading book we had a choice to read for class, and now I can't wait to read the next!!! The next book is the Scorch Trials, coming out October 12,2010. I strongly suggest reading this book!!!!!!

Review:

Thomas wakes to find himself in a metal box-like elevator. He remembers nothing about his life except his name. He is transported to the middle of a strange place where he discovers other boys have also been taken. Everyone there can only remember one thing, their name. Survival is one goal these other boys have. Trying to find a way through "the Maze" is their other goal. It is basically survive until escape. Until the day Thomas shows up, everything runs in on a smooth schedule, everything the same day in and day out. Once Thomas arrives though, soon everything changes, starting with a surprise delivery that Thomas some how recognizes. Trying to sort though half memories, survive, keep hope, and escape, Thomas battles his way along with the other boys.

This is truly an AMAZING book!!!

The Wide-Awake Princess by E.D. Baker

In this story Princess Annabelle, or better known as Annie, grows up in a family that doesn't enjoy being around her because of a fairy "gift" received when she was a baby. With this gift though, she is able to resist a curse brought upon her sister, and the castle. She then escapes and goes to find Prince Digby, her sister's "true love", to reverse the curse. Joined by Liam, her father's guard, she manages to track down a group of princes and the two fairies she needs help from. From escaping the castle, fighting off beasts, discovering secrets good and bad, and some backfiring magic, Annie is able to save her sister (by finding her true love) and discover her own true love.

Annie Between States

A really wonderful book that I would suggest is called
'Annie, Between States' by Laura Elliot. The setting
is back in the Civil War. Annie is a young lady with
huge responsibilities. She has trouble keeping her
family together, especially when tragedy strikes
repeatedly, involving her two brothers, and mother.
She also doesn't quite know what side to support,
her home side or the side she cant see is much different
that her own. When she befriends a man from the
"enemy side" she discovers what her mother means
about war turning even the best people to war, and
that just because they aren't on "your side" doesn't
mean they aren't human and don't have lives some
where behind them. Laura Elliot really captures the
reader and holds them until the last line!! I really
suggest this book, it is AMAZING.

The Blue Shoe

This book is fabulously written, and captures the reader just by the book jacket!

A young apprentice and his master are visited by a strange man, requesting a strange shoe. After completing the shoe though, the man never returns. Finally the shoe is put on display for the town, and that is where trouble starts. A greedy mayor and his wife soon find out about the shoe, and how their pristine town, isn't so pristine.

Sent to a mountain for a crime against the mayor's wife, the apprentice learns there is greater cruelty there than at home, but he also discovers he has more friends, family, and enemies than he could imagine.

Fighting for what is right this apprentice turns his little world big, and his new big world upside down.

This is a MUST READ.

Book Review

A Pearl Among Princes
by Coleen Paratore

This book was truly AMAZING!!! Gracepearl is an enchanting character that leads you through the book from her point of view. She is full of spirit and has huge dreams. When the "PITs" (Princes In Training) arrive at her home island like they do every year, Gracepearl discovers something out of the ordinary, an extra ship. Taken through a whirlwind of adventures, sad, funny, and endearing, this girl finds out she is closer to her dreams than she expected!
